FACCC's Legislative Victories on Behalf of California Community Colleges

FACCC considers all of its bills victories, even those not signed into law, because they have brought important CCC issues to the attention of state legislators and Californians.

2000-2001

AB 135 (Havice)
Increases purchasing power protection for active and retired STRS members from 75%-80%. (Co-Sponsor) Status: Signed by Gov. Gray Davis

AB 647 (Horton)
Allows community college employees to file whistleblower retaliation complaints with the State Personnel Board. (Sponsor) Status: Signed By Gov. Gray Davis

AB 607 (McLeod)
Increases the maximum age factor cap for STRS members from 2.4 to 2.6%. (Sponsor)
Status:
Held inAssembly Appropriations Committee.

SB 159 (O-Connell)
Requires the state to provide current year backfill for shortfalls in property tax receipts. (Sponsor) Status: Held in Senate Appropriations.

SB 735 (Committee on Budget and Fiscal Review)
Restores $98 million in base-funding that Governor Davis vetoed from the Annual Budget Act. (Co-Sponsor) Status: Signed by Gov. Gray Davis, with $66 Million in line-item vetoes.

AB 649 (McLeod)
Allows part-time community college faculty to choose between Social Security and a qualified alternative retirement plan (such as STRS Cash Balance). (Sponsor)
