What are your goals in seeking office with FACCC?

I want to maintain FACCC’s leadership role in shaping community college policy & budget.  FACCC must continue to educate legislators about the role community colleges and the dangers of legislative policies that micromanage local control of curriculum, collective bargaining & budgets.

I believe FACCC must take the lead in opposing the privatization of community colleges and the role the private foundations/colleges play in lobbying legislative policies to change community college structure into a corporate model.  Performance based funding, productivity, elimination of the 50% law, increased student fees, accelerated learning colleges, moving funds out of student support services (CalGrants/EOPS) and into CTE programs, and AB 284 which allows charter community colleges are only a few examples of how private foundations/colleges influence policy.

My state level experience and working relationships with other faculty organizations will help to achieve those goals.
