Position Description:
FACCC is a private, nonprofit association that lobbies solely for all
California Community College faculty.
FACCC offers a three-month (or semester-long), unpaid journalism internship
for students who plan to pursue a career in journalism, new media or
graphic design.
The publications intern will assist with interviewing, writing and
research for FACCC publications, which include FACCCTS (an award-winning
quarterly journal), a monthly newsletter and a weekly e-mail newsletter.
Topics may include community college funding, innovative programs in
the community colleges, distance education, part-time faculty issues,
teaching tips, profiles on faculty leaders, etc. The intern will also
suggest story ideas for the quarterly journal, review news articles
to track issues relating to community college faculty, draft press releases
and other materials, and write/edit content for the FACCC Web site.
The intern will report to the communications director, and work at
FACCC 15 to 20 hours per week. Deadline: until filled

Desired Qualifications
FACCC prefers that applicants have taken at least one basic newswriting
class and have at least one semester experience working as a reporter
on a college newspaper.
