Legislative/Research Internship

Position Description

The Faculty Association of California Community Colleges (FACCC) has an opening for a Legislative/Research Intern. The Legislative/Research Intern reports to the Director of Government Affairs and Executive Director, and is responsible for researching and tracking legislative issues pertaining to community college faculty.

The Legislative/Research Intern will:

Research issues relating to community colleges and community college faculty
Track pertinent legislation on a regular basis

Desired Qualifications

  • Modern office practices and procedures including business correspondence, filing and standard office equipment operation
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Work efficiently and effectively under pressure
  • Work well with other
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Access, input, and retrieve information using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and the Internet

You will learn:

  • Basic functions and organization of the Legislature
  • How to track legislation throughout the legislative process
  • How to analyze legislation
  • How to prepare supporting materials for legislation
