HEALTH, BENEFITS, & RETIREMENT CONFERENCE

The Los Rios College Federation of Teachers (LRCFT) and the Faculty Association of California Community Colleges (FACCC) are hosting a full-day Benefits Conference on Tuesday, August 16, 2011. This conference will provide workshops on financial planning, retirement, health benefits, family leave options, and more for both full-time and adjunct faculty. Experts from around the region--CalSTRS/PERS, AFT, FACCC, CFT, and others--will be presenting at this comprehensive benefits conference. Enrollment for the individual workshops is limited, so pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Conference materials will be mailed separately to the homes of all Los Rios faculty.

More information can be found at www.lrcft.org or contact your LRCFT campus representative.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

KEYNOTE SPEAKER
Sharon Hendricks

Ms. Hendricks teaches in the Speech Department at Los Angeles City College and is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.  She serves on the Benefits and Retirement Committees for both the Los Angeles College Faculty Guild, AFT Local 1521 as well as for FACCC and is the Los Angeles College Faculty Guild Retirement Liaison to the CalSTRS Executive Board in Sacramento. Ms. Hendricks is currently running to fill the California Community Colleges seat on the CalSTRS Teachers' Retirement Board. She became interested in retirement and pension issues when she realized that her pension alone would not be enough to secure the kind of retirement she had hoped for after a career as a teacher. When she is not reading pension blogs or the Financial Times, she likes playing tennis and hiking with her dog, Lucy in the Eagle Rock area of Los Angeles.
