About Us Image

FACCC is a statewide professional membership association that advocates solely for all California Community Colleges faculty.

Since 1953, FACCC has provided focused representation for the community college faculty to promote funding, academic freedom, and retirement benefits. With members at all 112 campuses across California, FACCC continues to strengthen the position of faculty in the State Capitol, the State Chancellor’s Office, and the State Teachers’ Retirement System.

FACCC is faculty driven and professionally managed. Its board of seasoned faculty professionals is dedicated to working cooperatively with your unions and academic senates to ensure that faculty voices are heard in the halls of government and across the state.

FACCC is dedicated to representing your interests in Sacramento. Its professional staff and volunteer leaders testify at hearings, meet with legislators, and organize policy forums to promote the message of community college faculty.

FACCC communicates with its members through its up-to-the-minute social media posts on Twitter and Facebook; weekly email report, The Weekly; quarterly, award-winning journal, FACCCTS; and semi-annual, electronic legislative and budgetary update, InFACCC.

FACCC’s sister corporation, FACCC Education Institute (FACCC EI), organizes workshops and conferences for faculty across California. FACCC EI also provides policymakers with research materials on community college issues.

FACCC and FACCC EI are governed by a 22-member board (21 faculty leaders plus the executive director) which receives guidance from 10 standing committee. Your participation and input are needed.

Policy of Non-Interference in Local Leadership
FACCC endeavors to work cooperatively with all community college faculty organizations. FACCC maintains a policy of strict neutrality as to the selection, organizational structure, governance, and leadership of other faculty organizations.

Founded in 1953 by then “junior college” faculty members, the Faculty Association of California Community Colleges (FACCC) has provided California Community Colleges faculty with a focused voice in government for nearly six decades. From its initial inception in Long Beach as the California Junior College Faculty Council (CJCFC), community college faculty have succeeded in maintaining FACCC as a professional membership association looking out solely for its one constituency.

When Proposition 13 transferred the bulk of California Community Colleges funding decisions from local trustees to Sacramento, FACCC moved with it. In 2001, FACCC purchased its own building on 11th Street, between “R” and “S,” a few steps away from the State Chancellor’s Office, and only four blocks from the Capitol.

FACCC welcomes your participation on its Board of Governors and committees. Please take the time to review the website and contact us with any questions at Info@faccc.org or 916.447.8555.

We also hope that you will stop by to visit on your next trip to Sacramento, or that you arrange an opportunity to shadow one of our professional advocates in the State Capitol. It is a memorable experience you will not soon forget.
