STRS is taking calls from those who are planning to retire soon. From
a letter STRS is sending to all members: "If you wish assistance
in estimating your allowance increase, call the Public Service Office
at (800) 228-5453. Tell the public service technician you are requesting
assistance in determining your allowance based on the new benefit factors.
The technician will take your name, Social Security number and telephone
number. Within two working days, a trained service retirement staff
person will return your call and provide you with an estimate of your
allowance increase if you were to retire on Jan. 1, 1999."
