LEGISLATORS INVITED TO SPEAK ON COMMUNITY COLLEGE ISSUES:
Asm. Karen Bass (D – Los Angeles) – elected in Nov. 2004, she serves on the Assembly Appropriations, Business and Professions, Higher Education and Human Services Committees. She is also a member of the California Legislative Black Caucus and Women’s Caucus. She has played a key role in gang-prevention and neighborhood improvement in Los Angeles .
Asm. Joe Coto (D – San Jose) - elected to the Assembly in Nov. 2004, he serves on the Assembly Budget, Education, Governmental Organization and Human Services Committees. He also serves as the Vice-Chair of the Legislative Latino Caucus, which is focused on improving education for Latino youths.
Sen. Bob Margett (R – Arcadia ) – first elected to the Assembly in 1995 he was then elected to the Senate in 2002. He serves on the Natural Resources, Budget and Fiscal Review, Governmental Organization, Public Safety and Transportation and Housing Committees. He also serves on the Senate Budget Subcommittee # 1 on Education.
Sen. Alan Lowenthal (D – Long Beach) – first elected to the Assembly in 1998 and elected to the Senate in 2004, he serves on the Appropriations, Natural Resources, Veterans Affairs, and Water, Parks and Wildlife Committees. Lowenthal is authoring FACCC-sponsored SB 55, pertaining to the right of community college organizations to place a matter on the agenda of a local board of trustees.
