Candidate Statement

Thank you for taking a few moments to read my brief candidate's statement.

I am currently serving as the Governor for Region E, a position that I was appointed to in March of 2006.

Locally, I am the President of the Instructor's Association, the collective bargining unit at Santa Barbara City College. I have served on the Instructor's Association since 1999, first as a part-time faculty representative and more recently as full-time faculty representative. I have also served on the Executive Board of the Ventura County Federation of College Teachers from 1999-2004 as the Part-time Faculty Vice-president for Ventura College. During my office at Ventura, I was elected in a statewide election as an at-large representative for the Community College Council of CFT.

My goals in seeking this FACCC position are the continue the work that I feel is important:

(1) To support FACCC as an advocate in Sacramento for community college faculty; (2) To be a voice for all community college faculty, full-time and part-time; (3) To communicate with, listen to, and represent the concerns of faculty in Region E and; (4) To work on getting the Community College Initiative passed.
