Candidate Statement:

My name is Lisa Gunderson and I am a psychology professor at Sacramento City College . I have been at SCC since 2003. I have a Ph.D. and an M.A. in psychology and a B.A. in psychology and social sciences and communications. Also, I am licensed clinical psychologist. Prior to teaching at SCC, I was an assistant professor at Loyola Marymount University for four years, and I have been an adjunct professor at California State University , Long Beach . Currently, I teach general psychology and Psychology of Minorities. Further, I serve on our Planning, Research, and Institutional Effectiveness Committee and in the past on the Diversity Committee.

My statewide experience is connected to my work as a project manager with a minority based program evaluation and action research firm. In this position, I managed several projects such as the Underutilization of health insurance by African Americans in California funded by the California Endowment. I believe that my organizational, research and planning skills can benefit FACCC.

My goal is to help to increase FACCC’s visibility and membership, especially amongst early career, minority, and female faculty members. I have had years of personal and professional experience working with diverse populations and organizational and planning skills that can benefit FACCC.

I truly enjoy my current service with FACCC on the policy committee and the strategic management task force. As well as, presenting at FACCC conferences. I believe that I can be a major contributor to FACCC’s overall vision and mission, and I hope I can receive the opportunity.
