Local Leadership

I have held three past appointed public offices: Criminal Justice Council of San Mateo County, Human Right Commission for the City of San Jose (Past Commission Chair), and Human Relations Commission of Santa Clara County. I currently serve on the Social Services Advisory Commission of Santa Clara County where I chair the Advocacy Committee. Our Committee has as its priority this year examining the crisis of "overrepresentation of children of color within the Social Service system" in our community. I further participate as a member of the Independent Police Auditor's Advisory Committee in San Jose.

Statewide Leadership

I have been a voting delegate to the State political conventions of my political party for over ten years. I am a member of the Native American and African American Caucuses. I currently am the Parlimentarian and Communications Director for the Business and Professional Caucus of my party.

Prior Service with FACCC

I have been a member of the Political Action Committee of FACCC for many years. For the last two years, I have been Chairperson. During these last two years, I have hosted PAC's Lobby Day Luncheon in Sacramento, moderated the political debates at our FACCC Conferences for the last two years, and most importantly, helped to oversee our organization's donations/endorsements to candidates for the Senate and Assembly in the State of California. Over the years, I ahve also helped to host FACCC's "Hospitality Events" at the Democratic and Republican California State Conventions.

Candidate Statement:

As the only professional organization representing community college faculty exclusively, I would like to help expand our membership to include a larger percentage of full and part time faculty in California.
