FACCC has expanded its advocacy team from two to five to better serve the needs of the California Community College faculty. The change includes hiring Andrea Harvey-York as a contract lobbyist and Cynthia Castillo as a legislative assistant. Harvey-York has worked as an independent lobbyist since 2015, and prior to that served as FACCC’s government affairs director for more than nine years. Castillo, was most recently a field organizer for the California Democratic Party on behalf of US Rep. Ami Bera’s re-election campaign for CD 7. The association also reports promoting Austin Webster from communications director to director of external affairs. Webster, who has been with FACCC since April 2015, will continue to manage communications for the association while also working as its principal lobbyist. Executive Director Jonathan Lightman continues his role as senior lobbyist, focusing on the state budget, federal, and regulatory issues, and Associate Director Evan Hawkins will continue to coordinate FACCC’s grassroots efforts.
