- beachgal@flash.net (Jeanne Oelstrom) One way I
measure my successes is by the number of "returning customers" I see in future
classes. I am teaching three summer classes and more than 50% are students I've taught in
the past. I am complimented when I see them return. It also makes the class more fun for
them and for me as we know each other's personalities.
A challenge for me this year was that of editing the faculty monthly newsletter. (Editing
means basically writing most all of it!) I put out
nine newsletters consistently, each one featuring two faculty (full- and part-time), a
memorable student, a program for students that faculty could
help promote, a helpful hint for teaching, etc. I've had several faculty and
administrators compliment me on it as some of the newsletters over the
years have been very weak with lots of mediocre pictures and "old news." (And
guess what? I have the job again next year. Not too many want the
job.)
