Dr. Lisa Raufman has been a community college career counselor since 1975 and is currently Faculty Development Coordinator at El Camino College and serves on the State Senate’s Faculty Development Committee. She has been a Dean of Counseling, an instructor, and a coordinator of Career Centers. She also serves on the Community College Chancellor's Office Statewide Career Development Advisory and on the State Academic Senate Faculty Development Committee.
Dr. Raufman is a co-author of The Career Fitness Program, Exercising Your Options (Prentice Hall), a popular career book used in community colleges and universities since 1989 .
This book is used in colleges throughout the United States as a 3 unit Career class that includes developing a positive attitude, assessing yourself; exploring the world of work; and job search strategy. (This course is accepted in California for the “life development” section of the CSU General Education pattern.)
Dr. Raufman has a doctoral degree from the University of California at Los Angeles in Higher Education, Work and Adult Development. Her Counseling Master's Degree had a specialization in Community College Counseling and Vocational Rehabilitation. She is also past President of Los Padres Chapter American Society for Training and Development and the California Community College Counselor's Association (4CA).
