Speaker Bio


Dr. Kathleen Burke-Kelly

Dr. Kathleen Burke-Kelly was elected to the Glendale College Board of Trustees in April 2003. She worked at the college as a faculty member from 1981-2001 and is a former Glendale College student. 

Dr. Burke-Kelly holds a doctorate in education from Pepperdine University. Her masters degree from California State University, Northridge is in art with an emphasis in art history. After completing her general education studies at Glendale College, Dr. Burke-Kelly transferred to the University of California at Irvine where she completed her bachelors degree in art history and studio art.

In addition to teaching art history at the college, Dr. Burke-Kelly served as chairperson of the Visual and Performing Arts Division for ten years. Her civic activities include being a member of the City of Glendale 's Arts and Culture Commission. She served as chairperson of the commission in 2002.

Currently, Dr. Burke-Kelly is Interim Vice President at Los Angeles Mission College, and serves as dean at East Los Angeles College supervising visual and performing arts, English, foreign language, physical education, social sciences, and speech.
