President Oranit Limmaneeprasert, American River College Discipline: ESL
Dr. Limmaneeprasert brings over three decades of teaching and advocacy experience to her new role. A professor of English as a Second Language, she spent 27 years teaching in California’s community colleges, following six years at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Her commitment to educational equity, faculty empowerment, and inclusive access has defined her career.
A long-serving member of FACCC’s board, Dr. Limmaneeprasert served as vice president and has been a member of several key committees. Her experience also includes leading the faculty union at American River College and presiding over the Sacramento chapter of the Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance.
A dedicated advocate for systemic change, Dr. Limmaneeprasert has testified in numerous legislative hearings to champion equitable access for marginalized students and better working conditions for part-time faculty. She has been a vocal critic of the Student-Centered Funding Formula, warning of its potential to harm the state’s most vulnerable community college students.
Dr. Limmaneeprasert's journey—from a childhood in rural Thailand where she was told her education would end in elementary school, to earning a PhD in educational psychology and an MA in teaching ESL—deeply informs her leadership. She understands the transformative power of education and is committed to ensuring that opportunity is available to all.
